FAQ

1.If my account credit is insufficient, will my data be deleted immediately?

No. If your account is in arrears, the service will be suspended, but your data will be retained for 30 days. Once you recharge and settle the arrears, the service will resume automatically.
Risk: If you do not recharge after 30 days, the system will automatically perform resource reclamation, and your buckets and all data will be permanently deleted and cannot be recovered.

2.Why am I still charged for storage on the day I deleted files?

VMRack Object Storage storage usage is billed based on the Daily Peak. If you stored 10GB at a certain time of the day and then deleted 5GB, the settlement for that day will still be calculated based on the 10GB peak value. The new storage usage will take effect in the next day's bill.

3.Why was I charged an "Early Deletion Fee" after deleting files?

This is usually because you deleted Low Frequency Storage files stored for less than 30 days.
Although Low Frequency Storage has a lower unit price, it has a minimum storage duration requirement. If you perform deletion or modification of storage class operations within 30 days of uploading, the system needs to collect the storage fee for the remaining days as a penalty.
Advice: For data requiring frequent changes or short-term storage, it is recommended to choose Standard Storage.

4.How is the fee calculated for the day if I delete the entire bucket?

Deleting the bucket on the current day still generates storage fees.
Object storage uses daily peak billing. Although you deleted the bucket, a storage usage peak existed (Peak > 0) before the deletion action occurred, so the system will settle based on the maximum storage usage of that day.
Special Reminder: If the deleted bucket contains Low Frequency files stored for less than 30 days, deleting the bucket will trigger the deletion of these files, thereby triggering the Early Deletion Fee, and the system will collect the storage fees for the remaining days as a one-time supplement.

5.When does the price change take effect after modifying the storage class (e.g., from Low Frequency to Standard)?

The fees for the day of modification will be superimposed.

Billing Logic: Since object storage is settled by daily peak, on the day you modify the type:

  • Old Type Fee: System records that the old type existed that day, so it collects the old type storage fee for that day.

  • New Type Fee: Modification generates a new peak for the new type, so it also collects the new type storage fee for that day.

Effective Time: Starting from the second day after modification, only the new storage fee will be charged.

Special Reminder: If you convert Low Frequency files stored for less than 30 days to Standard Storage, in addition to the double storage fee for the day, the system will also charge an extra Early Deletion Fee.

5.What is the "Waived Amount" displayed in the bill?

This is a billing benefit provided to you by VMRack.

  • Reason: Our billing system is accurate to 4 decimal places, while actual payments are accurate to 2 places (cents).

  • Result: In the monthly unified settlement, the system automatically summarizes all unsettled fractional remainders. If the summarized total remainder is less than $0.01, the system will directly waive (write off) this fee, and you do not need to pay it.

6.How is the monthly free quota deducted?

VMRack provides competitive free resource packages monthly, and the system prioritizes deduction during settlement; billing starts only for the excess part.
Quota Details: 5GB Standard Storage, and 10GB Downstream Traffic.
Note: Free quotas automatically refresh on the 1st of each month and cannot be rolled over to the next month. Penalty fees do not occupy free quotas.

7.Is Cross-Region Replication or Mounting supported?

Currently, buckets do not support cross-region mounting. It is recommended to choose the region closest to your business or main user group when creating a bucket to obtain optimal speed.

8.Are API, SDK, or S3 client tool connections supported?

Not tentatively supported. The current version only supports operations via the Web Management Console. API interfaces and third-party tool support are currently being planned.

9.Is there a size limit for single file uploads?

The system limit for a single file is 20GB. However, due to browser memory and network stability impacts, to ensure upload success rate, it is recommended that the size of a single file uploaded strictly via web does not exceed 500MB. For large files or batch uploads, please pay attention to the "Task Center" progress.

10.Why is the copied link inaccessible after file upload?

For security and compliance, VMRack does not provide default long access domain names. You must bind a custom domain name in the "Domain Management" tab of the bucket. After binding, the file details page will automatically generate a usable access link.

11.How to prevent my images from being stolen by other websites?

Please go to the "Security Settings" of the bucket and enable the Hotlink Protection function. You can set a Referer whitelist (e.g., *.yourwebsite.com) to allow only requests from your designated domains to access files, thereby saving traffic costs.
