1.What are the differences between Bare Metal and Cloud Servers?

Resource Isolation

Physical-level isolation: Dedicated access to the entire physical server, with no "neighbors."

Virtualization isolation: Shares the underlying physical resources with other tenants through Hypervisor virtualization.

Performance

No performance loss: Direct hardware access with zero virtualization overhead, delivering exceptional, stable, and predictable performance.

Shared performance: Subject to virtualization overhead and may be affected by activity from other instances on the same host ("noisy neighbor" interference).

Security & Compliance

Highest level: Hardware-level isolation, meeting the requirements for data physical isolation and strict compliance in sectors like finance and government.

Software-level isolation: Relies on the virtualization layer and software security groups, suitable for most general security scenarios.

Ops & Management

Self-managed operations: Users have full control from the OS down to the hardware, resulting in higher operational complexity.

Managed operations: The cloud platform manages the underlying hardware and virtualization. Users primarily manage the OS and applications, simplifying operations.

Typical Scenarios

Core databases, High-Performance Computing (HPC), financial trading, high-compliance services, resource-intensive applications.

2.What is the resource expiration and recycling mechanism?

Before a resource expires, it is recommended that you renew it promptly to avoid data and business loss. The post-expiry handling of relevant resources is as follows:

Instance (vCPU, Memory, System Disk, Data Disk, Public IP)

  • Instance resources (vCPU, memory, system disk, data disk, IP) are retained, but the instance is suspended.

  • If renewed successfully within this period, the instance will resume operation.

Compute resources (vCPU, memory, system disk, data disk, IP) are released. All configurations and data are cleared and cannot be recovered.


Will I be notified before my resources expire?
The system proactively notifies you of resource status changes through the following alerts. It is essential to keep your contact information up-to-date and to check these notifications promptly.

We recommend regularly checking resource expiry dates in your console and confirming your contact email is correct, so you don't miss any important updates.

3.Can the configuration of a Bare Metal instance be adjusted?

Bare Metal servers are physical machine instances where users have exclusive access to all hardware resources. Configuration adjustments are not supported.
